Brain Facts:

The adult human brain weights between 1,300-1,400 grams or about 3 pounds, 2% of total body weight (based on 150 lbs).

At rest, 15-20% of the blood flow from the heart goes to the brain which also consumes 20% of the total oxygen.

After total loss of blood supply, the brain retains consciousness for 8-10 seconds.

Reflexes continue to function for 40-110 seconds after the brain looses it's blood supply.

White matter, roughly 60% of the brain, consumes only 6% of it's oxygen. 94% of the brains oxygen is consumed by the 40% that is grey matter.

It is estimated 1% of the world's population has schizophrenia, a brain disorder which makes differentiation between real and imagined experience, logical thought and normal emotional and social interaction difficult. Schizophrenia ussually develops between the ages of 15 and 25.

The record time for no sleep according to the Guinness Book of World Records 1990, belongs to Robert McDonald, who spent 453 hours, 40 minutes (18 days, 21 hours, 40 minutes) awake.

"Internet Addiction", "Pathological Internet Use", "Problematic Internet Use" and "Computer Adiction" are terms commonly enlisted by psychyatrists for computer users who forget to eat, exersize, loose interest in friends and family, don't make it to the bathroom on time, derive comfort from computer use or games when other things go wrong, or develop mild "substance abuse" issues when things go wrong with internet or computer relationships.
